Description:
For students who are highly motivated and dedicated to their work, upper-level Painting/Drawing Workshops continue to advance ideas from earlier workshops with a deeper emphasis on the development a personal voice through individual projects and critical thinking, both in and out of the studio. Interdisciplinarity, experimentation and collaboration are encouraged. Lectures, readings, presentations, and guest critiques provide additional context for this research.
SECTION DESCRIPTION:In this advanced workshop, students will further explore drawing in their own practice through a series of self-generated projects. Our focus will be on drawing as a means of thinking and planning as well as a final product. As a group we will research how artists with a diverse range of practices engage with drawing today. Through readings, presentations, visiting artist(s), and field trips students will investigate what it means to make drawings in relationship both to history and contemporary culture.
