Description:

This class will be offered in an online format. There will be a range of learning opportunities that include online demonstrations, group discussions and critiques, and virtual meetings and mentorship with the instructor. Students will also be provided with guidance on what materials to purchase and how to set up home studio spaces.This highly versatile print process has been a favorite of contemporary artists for decades due to its flexibility and the ability to easily work with color as well as printing on a wide variety of surfaces. This introductory class will demonstrate traditional graphic techniques of hand painted and cut film separations, registration systems and the use of digital film output, an essential component in the field of professional screen printing practice. Working with transparent and opaque color palettes will be introduced as well. Critiques will be an ongoing part of the class dialogue. Outside studio time is required to develop skill in the process. Open to students in all majors. Students may continue their investigations by taking a second course, PRINT 3120 Screen Print 2.
