Demonstrations and hands-on work in the basic techniques of direct lithographic printing from limestone, primarily in black-and-white (although color possibilities will be demonstrated and will be available to students as they are ready for them). Many appropriate drawing modes will be explored. Careful attention will be given to the exacting tasks of etching, proofing, correcting, and printing editions. This is basic printmaking, but it demands time and attention to detail. Regular participation in class, plus approximately equal time outside class, are required to achieve adequate results. May be repeated for additional credit.
