Description:
Color Translations: Global Perspectives on Color is an interdisciplinary studio course that immerses multilingual and globally minded students in the many facets of art, design, and architecture through the lens of color. This dynamic and hands-on exploration delves into color’s profound impact on visual experiences, cultural traditions, and built environments. Students engage in practical applications of color theory through projects encompassing paintings, sculptures, films, architectural models, among other creative outputs. Visual research forms the basis for understanding color’s cultural, psychological, and historical significance in creative and architectural contexts. Field trips provide real-world exposure to color in diverse cultural settings. Through collaborative research and studio practice, students develop the skills to approach color in a culturally sensitive manner, enhancing their ability to create and design in harmony with diverse global expressions. Join "Color Translations" to unlock color’s power as a bridge to global creativity and innovation.Upper Division Interdisciplinary Studios extend a student's cross-school experience from Core Studio up into their upper division years. 3 units of Interdisciplinary Studio are required of all majors and must be completed in the junior or senior year. This advanced level studio is thematic in nature. Technical demonstrations are paired with thoughtful readings, seminar discussions and ambitious projects. Collaboration, experimentation and presentation skills are developed in concert with critical thinking.
