Description:
A workshop for writers, artists and makers telling stories across culture and medium. This course brings together undergraduates engaged in art practices concerned with narrative storytelling to develop their own projects and hone their storytelling skills. Students may generate new work or bring work-in-progress for feedback. Sample approaches include Arts activism, Visual storytelling, Documentary poetry, Participatory story, Identity & Representation, Social mapping, Food photography, Narrative textiles, as well as traditional literary forms, such as collections of literary nonfiction, poetry, short stories, hybrid forms, or a novel/la. Individualized mentorship will be provided, alongside rigorous critique sessions and salon-style camaraderie. We invite majors in Writing & Literature/Comics, Animation, Community Arts, Fashion Design, Film, Graphic Design, Illustration, Photography, Printmaking, Textiles, and History of Art and Visual Culture.. NOTE: WRLIT and HAVC majors will additionally use this course to participate in Junior Review, prepare for Senior Thesis projects, and apply for All-College Honors.
