Entry details

Delia Brown is a contemporary American artist known for her figurative paintings. Brown explores themes of absence, desire, and wealth in her work through depictions of women in luxurious settings. Born in 1969 in Berkeley, CA, she received her BA from the University of California, Santa Cruz and her MFA from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2000. Brown has expressed that her work comes out of growing up in a liberal family and that it expresses her discomfort with producing objects of entertainment for the wealthy. She continues to live and work in Los Angeles, CA.
