The Night It Rained:

After losing his scholarship, Malachi is forced to make a life-altering decision that may cost him his education, safety, and dignity. The Night It Rained is a story of tenacity and resilience.

***OPEN TO THE CCA COMMUNITY

THIS EVENT IS PART OF THE FIRST-EVER CCA FILM WEEK, a time for our community to come together, to explore, reflect on and celebrate the power and potential of the moving image, the diversity of voices working in this field and our questions related to racial and social justice.

PARTICIPANT BIO:

Lamont Lamar is a storyteller who aims to explore the untold stories within Queer and BIPOC communities through film.  In 2017, he moved from Philadelphia to Oakland to study at California College of the Arts. As an undergraduate, he founded BIPOC EDU Collective, a space for students to spark dialogue around radical justice within higher education. In addition to holding leadership positions on campus, Lamont also spent much of his time working with and mentoring youth around film and media literacy with the longest-running film festival in America, SFFILM.  His films have screened at the Black Star Film Festival.
