Event description

This series of solo exhibitions feature work by advanced Printmedia students at California College of the Arts. Their works span the magic of copper etching, lithography, and expressive monoprint to delicate works on handmade paper and fabric. Through sustained explorations of media, each artist has developed narrative and conceptual threads in their work.

"Nowadays we pay a lot of attention to Google maps and mapping apps - rarely thinking that they are subjective. We have a lot of faith in the truth of these maps, forgetting that data is one mode of interpreting the world, made by engineers. It reduces our individual feeling about spaces and our real world. Relying too heavily on maps can make us stupid, cutting off our cognitive abilities to imagine our own maps. My exhibition creates overlapping Cognitive and social maps from photographs and drawings that record my thoughts on spaces I visit."

Printmedia resumes our tradition of student exhibitions in our new RayKo “Artist Proof” print gallery space and we welcome the CCA community to visit. Please check hours on Portal, and on arrival ring the doorbell for access to the space.
