Event description

You are warmly welcomed to a Celebration of Life for Peter Simensky, to grieve together in community on Saturday, April 20th and Sunday, April 21st, in San Francisco, CA.

Saturday, April 20th, 10-11am: Community Reflection with Peter’s work at YBCA

Peter has artworks in the Bay Area Now 9 exhibition at the YBCA. They have graciously offered to open their doors to us for a private gathering to experience his work and for reflection from 10am-11am, before the museum opens to the public.

Please gather at the front doors between 9:45am-10am so we can all go in together.

Saturday, April 20th, 3-6pm: Celebration of Life at The Lab

Thank you to The Lab for opening their space for Peter’s community to gather and share memories. A few folks have remarks prepared and there will be time for others to share spontaneously. In Peter’s spirit, please wear something flamboyant and fabulous that you know he would love.

Doors will open at 3pm and the speaking program will begin at 3:30pm. There will be light snacks and beverages.

**Keep checking the website for updates on a link to a potential Livestream or recording - technical details are still being worked out.**

Sunday, April 21st: Community Farewell Ritual, 10am

Peter loved the waters - the pool party, the rivers, the oceans. Long-time surfing comrade Aaron Gach will host a short, collective memorial activity followed by an informal gathering. People do not need to bring anything, but they should dress for the weather. We will meet at Ocean Beach directly across from Beach Chalet. It has ample parking and is easily accessible via public transportation.

Entry details

Free and open to the public.
