Low-Residency Program

We've designed the MFA in Comics curriculum just for you. This 60-unit, three-summer, low-residency program offers students the opportunity to study comics through seminars, workshops, and year-round professional mentoring.

Summer Sessions

Spend one month each summer in beautiful San Francisco working closely with our faculty in a tight-knit artistic community.

Each day of the summer session begins with literary comics seminars in the morning, tools and techniques studios in the afternoon, and ends with intensive comics workshops focusing on every aspect of the creative process.

CCA housing is available for the length of our summer session. Summer 2019 MFA in Comics housing will be located in CCA's brand new 75 Arkansas residence hall.

Fall/Spring Semesters

Between summer sessions, graduate cartoonists are paired one-on-one with professional mentors for bi-weekly meetings as well as online workshops with our graduate comics faculty. This mentoring process is designed to support students as they complete their MFA in Comics thesis projects.
