Novel Coronavirus (2019–nCoV)

Information and resources for the CCA community

An outbreak of a novel (new) coronavirus was first reported in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China in December 2019 and is being monitored closely by health officials globally. CCA is working closely with the San Francisco Department of Public Health and following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) other officials. This page will be updated as new information and resources become available.

San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH)

CCA works directly with SFDPH and follows its guidance on responding to health situation that affect our campus community.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

The CDC is the United States’ national public health institute. Its novel coronavirus page is a good source for the latest updates including news, travel advisories, and FAQs.

World Health Organization (WHO)

The WHO’s page is another helpful resource, providing information within a global context.

Health officials recommend the same simple steps for preventing the spread of novel coronavirus as they do for the prevention of colds, flu, and other respiratory infections.

Wash your hands

Wash hands often for 20 seconds with soap and warm water.

Cover your cough and sneeze

Use clean tissues or the crux of your elbow, not your hands.

Toss your tissues

Dispose of used tissues immediately so they don’t infect others.

Stay home if you’re sick

Don’t come to work or school if you have symptoms—help keep others healthy!

Get a flu shot

It’s not too late to get a flu shot. While it will not protect against novel coronavirus, the flu is exponentially more common. Protect yourself!

If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 9-1-1.

If you are seeking healthcare for symptoms associated with novel coronavirus such as fever, cough, and shortness of breath, and you have recently traveled to China, tell your healthcare provider about your travel history before arriving at their office.
