Teach-Out Resources

Last updated on Aug 17, 2026

As we look forward to a vibrant and productive 2026–27 academic year together at CCA, we are dedicated to ensuring you have a clear and well-supported path to degree completion. CCA has finalized teach-out agreements with several partner institutions designed to provide eligible students with a more seamless transition than a standard transfer.

Spring 2027 full-time enrollment: To remain eligible for CCA’s formal teach-out pathways and transition benefits, students must maintain full-time enrollment at CCA through the Spring 2027 semester. Teach-out agreements take effect after CCA closes at the end of the 2026–27 academic year.

Find your pathway

Two ways to find and compare your options

  1. Filter teach-out programs by CCA program to explore pathways for completing your degree at a partner school after the college concludes operations.
  2. Explore partner institution pages to learn which CCA programs are supported at each school and to review agreement highlights, application links, admissions and enrollment timelines, financial aid information, and next steps.

Please note: Partner institution pages reflect the teach-out pathways currently available through finalized agreements. Program matches, application links, admissions timelines, financial aid information, housing details, and other information will continue to be updated as partner institutions finalize their processes.

Understanding teach-out pathways

Teach-out agreements are designed to support students who are enrolled at CCA during the Spring 2027 semester and will not complete their degree by the end of that term. Because every major is unique, teach-out pathways are specific to individual academic programs and partner institutions.

It is also important to understand the difference between a formal teach-out pathway and a standard transfer..

Formal teach-out pathway: These are formal agreements CCA has established with specific partner institutions. Teach-out agreements are intended to support your academic progress, help you manage your overall cost of attendance, and minimize administrative hurdles. They provide coordinated support, such as transcript review, credit evaluation, and advising alignment, to help you navigate your transition more effectively.

Standard transfer: You always have the right to apply to any institution of your choice. However, without a formal teach-out agreement, the receiving school will typically evaluate your credits course by course, and its standard tuition rates, admission requirements, and application fees generally apply.

The benefits of a teach-out agreement

Teach-out agreements with partner institutions are designed to support:

Peer continuity: Supporting opportunities for groups of CCA students to transition together, allowing you to pursue your degree alongside your cohort and peers.

Credit recognition: Maximizing the amount of CCA coursework that counts toward your degree at a partner institution.

Affordability: Providing financial support and helping manage the overall cost of attendance to the greatest extent possible.

Time to degree: Reducing barriers to keep you on track for graduation. At some institutions, residency requirements may be waived or reduced through a teach-out agreement.

Streamlined transitions: Providing coordinated advising and simplified onboarding to help you navigate the process.

Quick questions: Applying to teach-out partners

Can I apply to more than one teach-out partner?

Yes. Students are encouraged to explore multiple options while deciding which institution is the best fit. Submitting an application does not commit you to enrolling.

Do I need to apply the day applications open?

No. You do not need to submit your application on the first day it opens.

However, we encourage students to apply as early as they reasonably can. Applying early gives you more time to confirm your admission, review your transfer plan and financial aid offer, and compare your options. Students interested in programs with limited capacity should also consider applying early.

Is admission first come, first served?

Generally, no. Teach-out partner institutions do not typically admit students on a first-come, first-served basis. However, some programs (noted on the individual partner pages) have limited capacity, so applying early is recommended if you are interested in one of those programs.

How competitive is admission?

For almost all programs, students in good academic standing will follow a streamlined admissions process.

Some programs have limited capacity or additional review requirements. For example, Character Animation at CalArts and selected programs at Pratt may have additional review considerations. Partner pages describe any program-specific requirements.

Your next steps

Apply to a teach-out partner: Dedicated Fall 2027 applications are now open for CCA students. Visit each partner’s page for application instructions, agreement highlights, admissions timelines, and next steps. You may apply to more than one partner while exploring your options, and submitting an application does not commit you to enrolling.

Schedule a transition support appointment: Meet with a CCA Transition Hub counselor for individualized help reviewing your academic plan, planning Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 coursework, considering degree-acceleration opportunities, comparing teach-out pathways, and exploring independent transfer options.

Review the student FAQs: Find answers to general questions about financial aid and teach-out processes.

Review the GE Waiver Guide: CCA’s teach-out agreements may allow students who complete CCA’s 11 foundational Humanities & Sciences requirements to have many lower-division General Education requirements recognized as complete at participating teach-out partner institutions. Review the GE Waiver Guide to understand how this may apply to your pathway, including partner-specific notes and CSU “Golden Four” exceptions.

Request unofficial transcripts: Download an unofficial transcript from Workday for reference during initial meetings with partner institutions or transition support appointments. Workday offers both a standard transcript and an expanded version that includes course descriptions and learning outcomes; the expanded version may be especially useful for transfer conversations.

Complete financial aid steps: Complete the 2027-28 FAFSA or California Dream Act Application by the applicable deadlines and list the teach-out institutions you are considering. Review each partner page for school-specific financial aid dates and requirements.

Review housing and relocation information: If you are considering campus housing or will need relocation support, review each partner’s page for housing availability, deposits, deadlines, and any available assistance.

International students: F-1 students should review the international-student information and SEVIS transfer steps on each partner page and consult CCA International Student Services before making transfer or enrollment decisions.

Contact Student Services: Reach out to [email protected] with questions about your academic planning and transition options.

Information sessions

Partner institutions continue to host virtual and in-person information sessions throughout the teach-out process. Visit each partner’s page to:

  • Watch available session recordings.
  • Review presentation materials.
  • Learn about opportunities to connect with admissions representatives.

What's next

CCA will continue to update its partner pages with admissions information, enrollment timelines, financial aid milestones, housing information, portfolio requirements, campus visit opportunities, and other partner-specific guidance.

Review the Student FAQs and partner pages regularly for the latest confirmed information.
