Description:
Model Making introduces the materials, tools, and methods used in the fabrication of 3D models
with a focus on Industrial Design. Along with presentation level models, the class will explore 3D
rapid visualization techniques for constructing soft (in-process) mock-ups, as well as mechanical prototyping. In a series of small skills-oriented exercises, students work with simple prototyping materials as well as clay, plaster, wood, plastics, fabric, and other media, including more sustainable alternatives to formerly industry-standard materials. Upper division students of all disciplines will have the opportunity to improve the craft of their work in portfolio-worthy projects.
