Steps to Apply for Aid

Step 1: Complete the FAFSA

US citizens and eligible noncitizens who wish to be considered for need-based financial aid are required to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and include CCA's federal school code 001127.

  • How to Complete Your FAFSA - Click here to watch a series of videos on how to complete your FAFSA.

Dreamers/DACA students should complete the Dream Act Application for consideration for state and CCA institutional aid. Undocumented students can review this helpful information.

To complete the FAFSA, you will use tax information from two years prior to the academic year you are interested in attending (i.e. 2022 tax information for the 2024-25 Academic Year)

FAFSA and Dream Act Application Deadlines

  • February 1: Undergraduate and graduate priority deadline for Fall admission
  • March 2: Undergraduate deadline for the California State Grant Program

Applications received by these priority deadlines are given first consideration for CCA scholarships. These deadlines do not apply to the Federal Pell Grant or the Federal Loan Programs.

Step 2: Receive Offer Letter including Need-based Aid

Admitted undergraduate students will receive notification of any offer of merit scholarship included in their Offer of Admission letter. These will begin to be released in mid-December and continue on a rolling basis.

Need-based Aid

After the college has received the information provided by either the FAFSA or Dream Act Application you fill out, CCA’s Office of Financial Aid will work to put together your Financial Aid Offer Letter, which will include any need-based aid for which you are determined to be eligible.

Due to the delayed December opening of the 2024-2025 FAFSA, this process will begin in late January 2024 and continue on a rolling basis. It may take a few weeks from the time you submit your FAFSA to when your offer letter is available to view, so we encourage you to submit your FAFSA as soon as possible.

Admitted students will receive their offer letter in the mail as well as be notified via email when their financial aid offer is available to view online, by logging in to their CCA Undergraduate Applicant page or Graduate Applicant page.

At this point, you cannot proceed with the steps to apply for financial aid at CCA until you declare your intent to enroll at the college by making your enrollment deposit.

Step 3: Submit your enrollment deposit to be prompted to set up your CCA email address and Workday account

After you have made your decision to accept your offer of admission and you have submitted your enrollment deposit declaring your intent to enroll at CCA, you will be prompted to create your CCA email address and password, which will also be your login credentials for your CCA Workday account. Please contact the Office of Admissions if you have questions about this step.

Step 4: Accept or Decline Awards

Once you have completed the steps above, including setting up your Workday account, you will be able to view any financial aid offers and respond by accepting or declining them though your Workday account. Please reference our step-by-step instructions for more details and to be guided through this process

To see when you will receive your financial aid in full, see disbursement information.

Step 5: Complete Outstanding Documents

Have you been selected for verification?

If you have been selected for a review process called verification, please check your Workday Inbox for missing action items. For more information on the verification process, please see our Verification Guide.

Incomplete documents or forms missing appropriate signatures will be returned to applicants for completion and may cause a delay in receiving your offer letter. Please note: all forms must be physically or electronically signed and dated.

All CCA verification documents can be found here.

Provide Additional Documentation

Applicants may be asked to provide additional information or documentation to the Financial Aid Office. Applicants are advised to examine all documents to ensure accuracy before submission to the Financial Aid office. Please check your Workday Inbox for missing action items.

Applicants are encouraged to retain a copy of all documents for their personal records.
