Games Track: Curriculum

Last updated on Oct 22, 2019

Overview

Beginning in Fall 2020, Animation majors may elect to join the Games Track. Students on the Games Track complete required coursework for the Animation BFA while also choosing to enroll in specific Games Track workshops, tutorials, and Junior and Senior Project courses.

Games Track courses will count towards both a student's Animation BFA and their progress on the Games Track. For most students, pursuing the Games Track should not affect the number of courses taken either within their major or to meet general degree or college requirements.

Joining the Games Track

To join the Game's Track, students with Junior standing will submit a declaration to the department and enroll in the "Game Design" or "Games Development" course offered during the semester they commit to joining the Games Track.

Freshman and Sophomores may also declare early for the Games Track. When they attain Junior standing they can formerly join the Games Track and enroll in upper division Game Track courses.

Before joining the Games Track, it is recommended that students take the "Game Making" lower-division workshop.

The sequence of courses required to complete the Games Track, in preferred order, include: "Game Making," "Game Design," "Games Development," "Junior Project 1 : Game," Junior Project 2: Game," "Senior Game Project 1: Pre-Production" and "Senior Game Project 2: Production."
