SPRING MOVE OUT DAY - Saturday May 7th 2022

Please review our Move Out process for all residential students who do not have summer housing assignments or 12 month contracts. Any questions regarding move out can be directed to housingdining@cca.edu.

  1. For Founders Hall and Blattner Hall residents who wants to move out early (between April 25th through May 6th), can check out via Express Check Out with the Front Desk between the hours of 8am - midnight. Information regarding Express Check Outs will be sent out on April 25th to resident's CCA email addresses. Note. Express Check Outs does not apply to the Irwin Hall community.
  2. For Saturday, May 7th - Spring Move Out Day (8am - noon): starting April 25th, all residential students can sign up in advance for a RA Check Out appointment - ResEd will communicate with you how to schedule this appointment and will be holding "Closing Meetings" in the weeks prior to Move Out Day. It is important that residents attend closing meetings to stay informed!
  3. Plan to remove all your personal belongings - none of your belongings should be in the unit at the start of your appointment
  4. Clean your unit - the unit should be returned in the same condition you moved in
  5. Show up to your RA Check Out appointment on time - RAs will be inspecting your unit during your check out appointment, and will officially check you out of the hall.
  6. For Founders Hall and Blattner Hall residents: if you have suite keys to your units (mail key and fob key if applicable), this must be returned to the front desk of your assigned building after your check out is complete.
  7. For Irwin Hall residents: please plan to return your keys (including mail key) after your RA Check Out appointment is complete.
  8. Check your CCA email regularly from housingdining@cca.edu and your building RECs!

There are a limited number of vacuums, swiffers, brooms, etc., available at your front desk. Return them promptly so other residents may use them. Vacuuming is prohibited between 10 p.m. and 10 a.m. to avoid disturbing others. Please plan accordingly!

IMPROPER CHECK OUT FEES:

  • For Express Check Outs with the Front Desk (April 25th through May 6th) - a waiver form must be completed with the front desk as you are electing to check out without an RA present, and check out early. You are responsible to ensure all of your personal belongings are out and your unit is clean and in good condition. If applicable, if you do not return your suite keys (including mail key and fob key), you may be charged for an improper check out fee, and replacement and recore.
  • For RA Check Out appointments for Saturday, May 7th - if you are not ready to be checked out at the time you scheduled your appointment, you may be considered an “Improper Check-Out”. This means that you will be charged $125.00 for an improper check out fee, in addition to being charged for any assessed damages assignable to you to your unit. We are expecting to move out residents in an orderly fashion, so being on time is critical!
  • If you stay in the building past 12 PM, noon, on Saturday May 7th - you will be charged $50 for every 30 minutes until you move out. We have a team of vendors coming in that afternoon to help us turn over the units for Summer 2022 and Fall 2022, so potential delays will cause disruption to our vendor's schedules. The amount will accumulate until you are officially checked out and physically out of the building.

Room Condition Report and Roommate Damage Accountability

Please make sure you have thoroughly cleaned your unit before moving out to prevent any unnecessary charges to your account. If you are living in a shared space, charges would be split among you unless one of you claims responsibility in the notes of your Room Condition Report and on your Roommate Damage Accountability form. The Roommate Damage Accountability will be attached to units who have either roommates or suite-mates in Founders Hall and Blattner Hall. Roommates or suite mates should speak to one another in advance to discuss any shared damages or shared responsibility to the unit. If a Roommate Damage Accountability form isn't completed by the time of Spring Move Out Day, any damages to the shared spaces in the unit (ex: bathroom, sink, walls etc.) will default to even split among roommates / suitemates.

Note: Roommate Damage Accountability will be collected during Spring Move Out Day.

The 5 Most Common Charges include:

  1. Improper Check-Out Fee: $125 + $50 per 30 minutes after your RA check out appointment
  2. Trash Removal Fee: $30 Per Bag
  3. Walls - Holes/Damage: $40 per spot,  $≥125 per wall
  4. Fail to Defrost/Clean Fridge: $100 (note: Irwin Hall residents do not need to unplug their fridge)
  5. Cleaning Fee: $≤250

For a more detailed list of charges, please read this portal page

Forwarding Your Mail

We strongly recommend that you directly contact businesses and people who send you mail and packages, that your address has changed, and change your mailing address in advance of Move Out Day.  Changing your address directly with the people who send you mail will ensure the fastest and most accurate delivery of important and time sensitive material. Residential students will not be able to change their address via USPS (US Postal Service) as the residential halls are considered a residential business address, and can not be changed by the student.

  • For students no longer living in the residential halls after Spring Move Out Day, we can no longer keep your mail in the residential halls. We will be returning to sender any mail for non-residential students after 12pm, May 7th, 2022.

Trash rooms in Founders Hall and Blattner Hall will be closed throughout the move-out process starting April 30th. Please take your trash/recycling/compost out to the debris bin outside your assigned building. Do not put your trash in the dumpsters across the street.

  • If you see someone in the bin, please let the front desk know so they can notify Public Safety.

For Irwin residents, please take out trash to the outside dumpster by Irwin Hall, and break down any boxes (flat) and leave them on the front porch.
