Still accepting applications for next Fall! Apply now before rooms sell out.

Students in their first and second years at CCA are required to live on campus. With plans underway for a safe return to campus, including hybrid instruction for all continuing students, vaccine roll out nationally, and lower cases of COVID-19 being reported, the live on residency requirement for the 2021-2022 academic year will be enforced.

Benefits of living on campus

  1. Convenience is key: after a year of remote learning, convenience to campus and academics resources is everything. Living on campus provides you with more time in the studios, libraries, and direct access to other campus resources.
  2. Succeed Academically: Studies show students who live on campus have a positive and satisfying college experience, earn higher grade point averages, and are more likely to graduate.
  3. Build Community: live immersed in a community of artists/designers. You may request friends as roommates or meet new artists/designers in your residential community

Health and Safety

Our team of RAs and professional staff prepare to support students in quarantine (when needed) with meal/food/package/mail delivery, and ensure they have the resources and support they need during this time. ResEd will be providing various living and learning programming throughout the year, while also following local health and safety protocols such as face coverings, social distancing, and proper hand-washing.

Assignments

Students may request a roommate of their choice at the time of applying. Final assignment of single versus double occupancy will depend on the San Francisco Department of Public Health. Your roommate preferences will be collected in advance, in preparation for double occupancy to be allowed. If the health order, is restricted to single occupancy, you will not have a roommate unless you opt in.

Access and Disability Services

If you have an access or disability accommodation request please submit your request with the Access and Disability Services office as soon as possible. Starting the intake process early on will help college staff identify the best room type for you.

Options

CCA's newest residence, Founders Hall is a first-fill community. Therefore, it is possible that any applicant might receive a Founders assignment. Blattner Hall (CCA's apartment style community located 3 block's away) is the second priority fill residence. For upper division Oakland based majors, we also have a limited number of beds in our Irwin Hall community. When applying, you may rank you preferences for both location and unit type. Preferences will be prioritized by application date.

Are you required to live on campus, but circumstances are preventing you from traveling to San Francisco for the Fall term?

For some of our International students, it may be challenging to get to San Francisco for the Fall semester (due to Visa appointment availability, COVID restrictions etc). If this circumstance applies to you, the housing application process is still required. So we may plan for your arrival to campus in Spring 2022, please complete the application AND email us stating that you will be arriving on campus for the Spring 2022 term.
