SEPTEMBER IS NATIONAL SUICIDE PREVENTION AWARENESS MONTH

In a crisis, remember that you are not alone, and help is always available. Get immediate support 24/7.

At any given moment, many of us are dealing with an instinct that a friend, coworker, classmate, or family member is having a hard time. It is so easy to procrastinate doing anything about that instinct because we do not want to rock the boat or make things awkward.

CAMPUS PLANNING

(LEARN MORE)

UPDATE: ADA AUTOMATIC DOORS ON THE EXPANDED CAMPUS

Regarding automatic doors on the expanded campus, please review the following updates:

Current Status:

  • While the required ADA push buttons are not yet operational, all exterior entrance doors are currently being kept open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. at least until Friday, September 13, 2024 to accommodate those with mobility challenges.
  • Unfortunately, the parts that were expected last week were delayed, which has pushed the timeline for activation to Friday, September 13, 2024.

Next Steps:

  • Once the parts arrive, the entrance doors should be installed.
  • The front gates on Hooper Street are open, and we are planning to install ADA push buttons there, expected in late September. In the meantime, these gates will remain propped open.
  • The buttons for the Maker's Yards doors are expected to arrive in mid-September. Until then, the doors will remain propped open.
  • Additional automatic doors that go beyond code requirements have been formally requested and will be considered by the Campus Unification Working Group (CUWG), along with the many other requests that are received.

Ongoing Monitoring:

  • Our Facilities team will continue to ensure that the doors are propped open and regularly monitored to maintain accessibility until all automatic functions are fully operational.

We want to acknowledge that balancing accessibility with campus safety in an urban environment is a complex issue, but it is one that we are committed to addressing thoughtfully. We will keep the community informed as more updates become available.

Thank you to those who have brought their concerns forward. Your feedback helps us ensure that our campus is as accessible and welcoming as possible.

Questions? Please contact CCA's Unification Team at 2024needs@cca.edu and Access & Disability Services at access@cca.edu.

LONG LOST

Long Lost, an exhibition curated by Giorgie O'Keeffe DePaolis (Visual and Critical Studies 2025), reconciles the work of past and present students, transforming the gallery into a homecoming venue. The reunion inspires questions of memory, distortion, home, inaccessibility, and distance. As a composed exhibit, works from current students and alumni complicate interpretations about childhood, family, safety, and collective experience. This refusal of neat returns and easy answers reflects the precariousness of pasts, homes, and histories.

  • Long Lost (In Person)
    • ON VIEW: Sunday, September 22, 2024 – Sunday, October 20, 2024
    • FEATURED ARTISTS: Current students Angela Zamora, Haley Mae, and Eve; CCA alums Narges Poursadeqi, Djinnaya Stroud, and Ashley Martin-Prideaux
    • RECEPTION: Saturday, October 19, 2024 | 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.

WHERE IS MY MOODLE CLASS? WHO CAN HELP ME WITH MOODLE?

Are you having trouble locating your class in Moodle? Do you have questions about your assignments in Moodle? The Libraries and Instructional Services & Technology team are here to help!

Some helpful information in the first few weeks:

  • Some courses will have an online class located at moodle.cca.edu. Look for any emails or announcements from your instructor about where your class is located.
  • Classes will become visible as soon as faculty have unhidden the class, and this may not happen until the first day of that particular course. For instance, if your course meets on Mondays, your Moodle class might not be available to view until Monday, September 9.
  • If you have made any changes to your registered classes in Workday, you may not see those changes take effect in Moodle until the following day.

Questions? Please contact us at helpdesk.cca.edu or look for the teal chat button that reads "Questions? Ask us!" in the bottom right-corner of Moodle. Please provide any relevant links, screenshots, and information, such as the name of your class or instructor, if applicable.
